The Silent Flute

(co-written by Bruce Lee)

In his quest for the book of wisdom the warrior Cord joins a martial arts tournament.
There he hopes that another fighter can lead him to Zetan, a famous wizard who is known to possess a special book of enlightment.
On their journey they occasionally encounter a blind man who possesses a great bamboo flute and teaches Cord lessons in riddles.

After Morthond gets wounded from the first trial, Cord ends his suffering and continues his quest for Zetan.
He also beats the leader from the tribe of monkey men who tells him how to finish his second trial.

A man in a large cauldron of oil who is trying to dissolve the lower half of his body
asks Cord to join him, but he denies it and leaves.

Cord also beats the leader of a band of travelers holding a festival.
He sleeps with one of the leader's wives and later finds her crucified.

After another encounter with the leader of the band of travelers he learns where to find Zetan.

He travels to the island where Zetan lives.
Despite Cord's belief to have another fight he is taught by Zetan that he already passed all trials.
Zetan allows Cord to read the book, but the pages simply consist of mirrors.
Cord walks off angrily and leaves the island.

Again, he meets the blind man who gives Cord his flute, passing in his role of teacher.
